Testing hot-line tools to meet OSHA regulations

We support the safety interests of new OSHA regulations for testing hot-line tools. Based on the new daily and two-year requirements for inspection, testing, cleaning and repair, we conducted extensive tests in our Engineering and Research Center laboratories.

From our findings, we now offer you suggestions on how to make the regulations work to your best advantage and to most effectively stay in compliance.

Key to this practice is the Chance Hot Stick Tester. It presents a viable means for perform-ing OSHA-required wet tests on fiberglass hot sticks. Beyond what OSHA requires, we recommend dry testing all hot sticks on a periodic basis. This is for further assurance against defects or contamination that would require removing the tool from service.
